5 Ways to Incorporate Valentine's with the Kids Around

When my hubby asked me what I wanted to do for Valentine's day, I told him flat out - stay home - order in and make it special for the kids too.  Once they go to bed, we can have our true Valentine's day (minus wine for me...boo).  He was apprehensive at first because we always do something, but this is the first year we don't have any support - the parents are all out of town, and we have never hired a baby sitter...and I am not starting on Valentine's day.

Here is what we are doing and it might be fun for all you others who are in the same boat.

#1  - Taking the Day off Work

Yes - I am doing it.  Why?  So I can have a nice relaxing morning while the kids are at daycare - then pick them up early and make some Valentine's day crafts.  Maybe hit up
the dollar store for some cutesy decorations.  We will make some things for Daddy that will melt his heart.  We will also be making some home made Valentine's day treats.

#2 - Take Out for Everyone!

Haven't decided on what yet - but it will be delicious, because I won't be the cook!  haha.

#3 -  Candle lit Table and Dim Lights

The girls (being 3.5 and 20 months) will eat this romance right up!

#4 - Watch a cute Valentine's Day Cartoon

Have some TV snuggle time.  We like to layout a couple of blankets and pillows on the floor and have a mini sleepover while watching our special show.

#5 - Put the Kiddies to Bed

Have some adult time.  This is where you can make it a true Valentine's Day with your hubby...I will let you all figure out what to do after the kids are fast asleep because my  husband would just kill me if I publicly announced my plan ;)  B
ut it is a Friday night this year, which means no one has to get up for a long work day the next day.  Yoopie!

I hope this gives you some renewed hope if you are out of luck with a sitter this Valentine's day.  Try some at home romance - if you put on your creative cap - it can be great!
